Investor Update
Join us for a virtual update on Michigan Capital Network’s Fund V. We will review the fund’s first four investments, provide an update on fundraising progress, and outline expectations for the year ahead, including anticipated capital call timing and upcoming investment activity.
This session is designed to keep investors informed as we continue deploying Fund V.
Fund V Portfolio Companies

Tacit Therapeutics is a biotechnology company based in San Francisco developing the next generation of gene therapies. Through a CRISPR-free RNA editing approach, Tacit Therapeutics can repair disease-causing mutations at the RNA level without permanent DNA editing. They rely exclusively on endogenous enzymes, aiming to significantly reduce the adverse immune responses of gene modification and expand the range of genetic disorders that can be addressed.

Modal Motors is developing a patent-pending electric motor architecture designed to achieve high torque density and strong efficiency without relying on rare-earths. Their design integrates axial and radial flux geometries to increase magnetic flux utilization, improving performance while reducing supply chain dependency on critical materials. The platform is paired with a modular, automated manufacturing system optimized for low-capital, U.S.-based production.

FluxWorks develops magnetic gearing and actuator systems for precision motion control in robotics, industrial automation, aerospace, and defense applications. Its magnetically geared actuators are designed to be backlash-free and overload-safe while integrating torque and position sensing to reduce reliance on external components. FluxWorks’ modular product line targets high-performance environments where durability, sensing-enabled control, and simplified mechanical architectures are critical. The technology enables series-elastic behavior and clutch-like protection under overload conditions. FluxWorks is pursuing markets where advanced dexterity and safe human-machine interaction are required, including humanoid robotics. The company’s growth plan includes hardware sales alongside optional sensor software licensing and integration services.

Waldo is building software infrastructure for the forestry supply chain, beginning with a digital E-Ticket platform that replaces paper-based load tracking and documentation. The system centralizes operational data and provides real-time visibility across land managers, loggers, truckers, and mills to improve coordination and reduce inefficiencies. Waldo is positioning the E-Ticket layer as a foundation for broader supply-chain SaaS, ERP, and integrated payments as network adoption expands. The company is addressing an industry where the majority of workflows remain manual and fragmented. Waldo’s network model scales as each enterprise customer onboards multiple counterparties across its supply chain. The platform is designed to improve compliance, settlements, and financial visibility across forestry operations.
